My 6 year old CJ and I traveled to Rock Creek to enjoy the 75 degree weather and sunny skies today.  We took our Malibu Extreme kayak and fished for panfish.  CJ caught a nice Perch on his first cast but it was a real slow day.  I got 8 fish including Perch, Crappie, and Bluegill.  There was a brisk wind from the south which made our drift a little quick for the bite today.  There were many other fishermen there on the shore and one other boat.  The lake was 2/3's open from ice today.  It should be totally melted this week.

Today we hosted Laurel from the Nebraska Outdoor Activities Group http://www.NE-OAG.com  for an afternoon of paddling and fishing.  We traveled to Rock Creek.  Temps in the high 40's to low 50's today.  Cool SE breeze.  Mostly sunny.  The Crappie bite was on today.  Got quite a few in just minutes.  Also, a couple Bluegill.  Fish were very active.  Only fished for a few minutes and then took a tour of the northern half of lake.  We used 1/64 oz. jig heads tipped with Yellow Twister Tail Grubs on a Huckaby Rig.

Took Brant from Warner Brothers Records of Los Angeles to Rock Creek today.  The weather turned out half way decent after a very cold morning.  The low last night was in the teens but it rose up to around 50 degrees today.  We caught numerous Rainbow Trout and Bluegill.  Also, got a small Largemouth.  Brant caught around a 10 inch Creek Chub as well which is a very rare catch at Rock Creek. The State Record Chub is 12 inches.  The wind was from the south from 5-15 mph.  We found some nice calm spots to fish and enjoyed a Rib-Eye Steak for lunch along with some potatoes and carrots.  We used small jigs, Panther Martin Spinners, and Tubes today.  The water was a bit more clear than yesterday.  The Crappie were not to be found today!

After Church and a family dinner I met a kayak fishing friend Greg at Holmes Lake in Lincoln in the late afternoon.  It was very windy from the NW.  The air was cool with temps in the low 40's.  We fished a lot of structure with no luck today.  Did not see anyone else catch fish either.  We paddled around the south end of the lake.  The Game and Parks has done a great job of renovating this lake.

After a long 6 hour drive home today I headed out to Rock Creek.  The winds were brisk all day.  When I arrived at the lake the winds subsided and the lake became glassy near dusk.  The fishing was outstanding for a day in the high 60's to low 70's.  I caught several nice Crappie, Rainbow Trout, Bluegill, Green Sunfish, Red Ear, and a couple Rock Bass in the 8-9 inch range.  I used Panther Martin spinners and small 1" grubs.  I did try to fish deep for Bass using a Spinner Bait.
