Backside of the storm that passed over Enders

Fished at Enders in the kayak today.   Storm hit lake as I arrived.  Had to wait it out for about an hour for the lightning and sometimes heavy rain to quit.  Just before the storm hit the White Bass were feeding heavily on shad at the surface.  They were small scattered schools and I was chomping at the bit to get out there.  But I waited.  Just after the storm the wind died down and the White Bass arose again and I had a blast catching one after another using a spinner on ultra light outfit.  I then switched to a top water shad popper and the fun really started.  Caught quite a few before they disappeared to the depths.  I then fished the rocky shoreline and caught several Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, and more White Bass.  The smallies leaped 3-4 feet in the air!  It was a lot fun using a top water plug again near the rocks.  The Bass ranged from 13-16 inches and the smallies around 10 inches.  The White bass ranged from 10" to 15" and one Wiper at 18".

Another shot of the storm. Clouds were very dark!

Fished at Enders again.  Beautiful evening!  Started about 4:00 PM.  Water has about 3-4' clarity in spots.  Not much action out of White Bass tonight.  Fished the shoreline using Rapala-X-Rap, Rebel Popper, and a new lure I am field testing.
Caught 5 Smallies, 4 Largemouth (Largest 16"), 3 Bluegill (Largest 8"), and a 14" Crappie.  I caught these fish in and around rocky points and ledges.  It was a lot fun!!  Also, paddled across the lake to one of the bays but it was not productive.

Fished at Rock Creek in early evening hours.  Wind from south 25mph++!
103 degrees today!  First two casts brought trout.  Caught them in a deep pool at north end with a twister jig.  Then targeted Largemouth Bass. Caught 16 of them over 12".  Two were 16", two 15", and the rest 12-14".  All caught on topwater lures.  These were some very healthy bass with a big girth.  All released.  Also caught a few Perch, Bluegill, and Red Ear.  Pulled 3 of the Bass from the same pool in 3 casts!  Water is very clear but vegetation is very thick.

Met 5 clients at Rock Creek in AM hours of today.   We fished most of morning and part of the late afternoon.  They caught more than a hundred fish today.  A couple dozen Rainbow Trout, Several Perch, Bluegill, Red Ear, and Largemouth Bass.  Several Bass were 12-14 inches.  We used 1/32 oz jigs with twister tails and topwater poppers.  Also did a little fly fishing today with much success.  A casting bubble with fly was also used with success.  The water was very clear today and the temp was in the high 90's.  We had a storm in the early evening which dumped buckets of much needed rain in the area.  A lot of the fish were caught in the deep holes created by the vegetation and in the dense weed beds along the shore.

Fished at Rock Creek with Ralph Wall from Outdoor TV Channel and Nebraska Game and Parks.  He was filming a segment for an outdoor program focusing on Kayak Fishing and the surroundings at Rock Creek.  It was about 90 degrees when we started in the early afternoon and cooled as cloud cover expanded and storms moved in. Caught several nice 10-12 inch bass using topwater Rebel popper.  Also, caught many trout, a couple Rock Bass, and Bluegill, Perch, and smaller Largemouth.  Water was like glass at times and very, very clear.

Fished at Rock Creek targeting Largemouth Bass.  Had some success using Plastic Crawdad with weedless hook setup.  Also, used a Rebel Topwater Popper.  Storms were moving in and bite was a bit slow toward evening.  Caught two 16" and one 15" bass among others.  Lightning forced me in early today.

Met two clients Betty and Nancy from Holdredge and Johnson Lake area.   Beautiful morning!  Sunny skies,  and slight breeze out of south.  We caught several nice sized bass in the 12-14 inch range.  Also, Bluegill, Redear, Trout, and Perch.   Water was very clear today.  Used plastic crawdads with weedless hook setup and small jigs with twister tails.  We also had a fantastic Rib-Eye Steak shore lunch.  Both gals landed some very nice Largemouth Bass.

Took two clients to Rock Creek today.  They had a lot of fun catching fish.  Beautiful morning again.  Stormed from 1:00 AM to about 5:30 AM today.  We got quite a bit of rain.  The water was still crystal clear at north end.  Wind from south but changed to north winds by 9:30 am.  We caught several Bluegill, Perch,  Trout, Red Ear, Green Sunfish, and Largemouth Bass.  One bass was 14.5 inches long and a 12" trout along with a 10" perch.  We used plastic crawdads and 1/64 oz jigs with at twister tails.  We fished the shore edges and weedbeds along with the jetties.

Fished at Swanson Lake.  Very hot day!  Cool morning though.  Very calm with little or no breeze.  Caught 11 Wipers in the 13-15 inch range using Lytle's Secret Lure around underwater humps and roadbeds.  There was some activity on top early.  Water clarity is not real good right now.
