NOTE: Rock Creek is a fairly renewed fishery. This lake has been completely renovated. These fish are less than two years old and are growing at a very rapid rate! The food supply in this lake is endless and the fish are very healthy in the crystal clear spring fed water.

Fished at Rock Creek today in the afternoon. Windy-69 degrees. Water Temperature 51 degrees. Caught 9 Rainbow Trout 12-14 inches; and 2 Largemouth Bass 12 inches; using a Metal Rainbow Minnow Spinner fishing about 4 feet down. Most fish suspended between 4-6 feet depth. Caught Largemouths and most of the trout in the Willows on North End where channel starts from rocks. Water is not real clear like it was last fall. Caught 3 trout in bay at south end near structure.

Fished at Rock Creek again in the Afternoon with friend Matt. Windy from North 25-30 MPH. 70 degrees. Water Temperature 52 degrees. Caught 12 Largemouth Bass many 14 inches; in Willows on north end of lake. Also caught three rainbow trout. Used a Metal Rainbow Minnow Spinner with great success. Very nice evening as wind died down. Also met Thad and he caught a Bass. A friend caught a couple fish as well.

Fished at Rock Creek. Windy from North 15-30 mph. 71 Degrees. Caught 3 Largemouth and 7 Rainbow Trout. Used a Metal Rainbow Minnow Spinner. Tried other baits with not much success. Bass in warmest water at North End of lake. Trout feeding heavily on bugs in 2-3 foot of water on west edge. As wind died down the lake was easy to fish and they were very active.

Fished at Rock Creek alone again. Windy from North 15-25 mph. Got cooler as day went on. 64 degrees at 3:00 pm to 51 by 5:00 pm. Caught 2 nice Bass (12 inches) on north end with minnow spinner. Caught 9 Trout and had many more on the hook. Some 12 inches but a few smaller. Good fighters! Wind was cold. One guy on shore caught a few trout and a catfish with powerbait.

Fished at Rock Creek. Only one on the lake. Slight breeze from NE. 39 degrees. Trout were feeding heavily on bugs. Boils all around me. Caught 10 rainbows on Minnow spinner. Tried a little fly fishing with a white popper. Needed my flies! Also tried a little drop shot with a Berkley Shad. The rainbows are 11-12 inches and very healthy.

Fished at Rock Creek. Took youngster along. 65 degrees. We caught 14 Rainbow Trout and a near State Record Creek Chub. He was 10.75 inches long! Kept him overnight and took to Game and Parks on Monday. Had it weighed and it was 8 ounces. We are catching most of the trout on west bank at north end just across from ½ submerged trees on minnow spinners. Trout are big and healthy! 12 to 14 inches.

Fished at Rock Creek alone in AM. Beautiful day. 75 degrees and no wind in early morning. Caught 13 Rainbow trout on west bank again. Found a route to spillway tube from kayak. Caught two trout up there. Two other anglers out today. Fish were feeding heavily at first until wind came up. Left at 11:00 am. Used minnow spinners and some fly fishing. Fly fishing has not been productive lately.

Rock Creek. 39 fish caught. 30 Largemouth Bass (Largest 15 inches) 6 Rainbow, 1 Channel Catfish about 20 inches, 1 Green Sunfish, and 1 Large Creek Chub. Used a 6 inch green lizard with a slip weight to catch bass at north end in channel. Used a minnow spinner to catch other fish. Rainbow were caught near spillway from kayak. I snagged the catfish while fishing for bass. Rainbows are very active. Bass are growing rapidly. Had a muskrat swim right by me. Saw a Beaver, lots of deer and a strange snake looking worm swim below the kayak. About 6 inches long. Very nice day 70+ degrees but windy from south. At dusk wind calmed and lake was very nice. Water over 60 degrees on north end.

Took seniors fishing to rock creek. Used all kayaks. Caught 8 Largemouth and one rainbow. One student caught 2 largemouth and a nice rainbow. Fish were in the shallows. Saw some nice perch and cats wallowing around in 3-5 foot of water. Water is very clear.

Fished at Swanson. Very windy. 3-4 foot waves! Unable to kayak in surf but fished from shore into waves for wipers. First one took my entire spool and my brand new X-Rap! Went to using a white twister grub on a 3/8 ounce lead jig. Needed a ¼ ounce but left them at home. Caught 6 wipers and 2 white bass. 4 of the wipers were over 18 inches; and put up a great fight! Lost quite a few to straitening my hooks! Hooked one by dam before going in but lost it. Matt Custer a fishing friend caught quite a few wipers and one even broke his pole in two! Temp from 55 degrees to 70 in am. Great day!

Fished at Swanson. Caught 4 white 3 wipers, and 1 small drum. One wiper was 18 inches. Slow day. North wind. Fished southeast shore extensively. Temp is only 68 above water. Water temp is about 62 on surface. Used live minnows, white twister grub, and a zoom shad with weedless hook. Other fishermen were having about the same amount of success. Fished in morning until 10:30 and in afternoon from 4:00 pm to about 7:15 pm. Sunny with north breeze.

Fished at Swanson at dusk. Caught 3 small wipers in 1-2 pound range. Very Windy around 25-35 mph from south. Kayaked to island and fished into surf. Not much luck with minnows in estuary. Used a white twister grub. Only three other fishermen on the lake. Temp was around 75.

Fished at Swanson in afternoon until sunset. Slow fishing in afternoon. Tried using a weedless storm shad with red hook. A couple hits but no fish. Later I switched to an inline minnow spinner. Good success catching 4 small wipers and 4 white bass and a small crappie near the dam and on main point of island. 85 degrees with some breeze from southeast. Paddled around 4 miles today.

Fished at Swanson. Nice day. Slight breeze. Caught 4 small wipers and 4 white bass. Also, caught an 18 inch walleye and landed a 28 inch flathead. Lost a bigger flathead just 5 minutes later. Caught the wipers and white bass just off island in 4-6 foot of water. Caught the cats in the cedar piles on north end of dam. Lots of snags there. Fish bite was heavy near sunset.

Stormy day. Wind changed directions three times. Did not start fishing until 2:00 pm. Caught one wiper today on live minnows. Not much action. Did a lot of paddling. Not any other boats catching anything either.

Fished Swanson. Caught 2 Wipers one at 18 inches. Caught two white bass and a small channel catfish using Carolina rig with live minnow. Nice day about 80 degrees.

Fished the Golf Course Sandpit for a few minutes. Very windy! About 75 degrees. Water is a bit stained after recent rains. Caught 3 small largemouth on minnow spinner.

Fished at Elwood Lake with Trevor Nation. Caught just one small white bass. Trevor caught a nice 18 inch walleye. Tough lake to fish today. Winds at 30 plus mph. We fished points and humps with lures and live bait on Carolina rig. Lots of fish on finder but not many takers today. Beautiful lake! Water level is still very low and muddy from recent rains and water coming in to lake.

Fished Elwood again with Larry Porter from Omaha World Herald. Great day! Not much wind. Water stained. Caught two muskie one 18 inches and the other 24 inches in shallow water 1-3 feet. One walleye 24 inches and a small channel catfish. Used a Carolina rig with minnow. Also, fish hitting on a ¼ ounce pink or yellow jig head with a gulp 3 inch yellow or pink minnow. Tried lots of crank baits with no success. Nice day!

Rock Creek, caught Largemouth, Trout on lizards. Caught one that was 16 inches at north end. Also caught some nice sized perch.

Took family to Rock Creek on Fathers Day. Caught 14 largemouth bass. Most in 12 inch range. Caught perch and trout also. Fished old spawning beds for bass.

Took two clients to Rock Creek. Caught Red Ear, Perch, Trout, and largemouth. Used lizard, and very small rooster tail. Found a bass hatch of fingerling bass.

Took clients to Rock Creek. Caught lots of largemouth on west side of lake in shallows using a lizard. Many small red and bass and perch with rooster tail from shore as storm hit.

Fished at Enders. Very hot. Surface temp 81. Fished with Carolina rig and minnow with limited success. Water clear. About 6:00 PM White bass started schooling up near cabin ledges. Caught five of them with metal minnow spinner. Action did not last long.

Fished at Swanson in Evening with client from Arnold. Got some nice big minnows from Bottle Shop but no action. Fished by dam.

Fished at Rock Creek in pm hours until dark with client. Caught 18 largemouth bass and 2 perch. The largest bass was 16 inches and over 3 pounds! Caught a 10 inch perch. Used plastic lizards with much success. As sun went down action got better. People are still catching trout on south end. We caught the bass on west side in weed beds and old spawning beds. Many bass over 12 inches. Client was using a top water shad type lure.

July 1-12
Fished Rock Creek quite a few times. Largemouth Bass 4-16 inches using salamanders. Trout on spinners. Even caught a channel cat on topwater with inline spinner. Some red ear and perch as well. North end is heavy with vegetation. Took many clients to this lake.
Best fishing was in evening even on hot days. Rock Jetties are very good for bass. Lot of spawning beds produced bass as well.

July 16, 2005
Fished Enders. Caught 5 white bass and 1 bluegill. Some schools on topwater present. Used inline spinner. Very hot day 101. Fished early morning 5 am to about 7:30 am. Schools did not stay up very long.

Fished at Rock Creek. Beautiful evening with glassy water after small rainstorm passed through. Caught 20 largemouth with many in the 12-15 inch range. Used small and large salamander with weedless hook. Also fished top water with large chug bug type popper with much success. Fish were very active! There is no feeling like a bass flipping out of the water for your lure! I got one just inches from the kayak! Also, got a few Red Ear Sunfish and Perch. Bass are fat!

Fished at Swanson today. Big change in temperature as it fell about 30 degrees from the last few days. About 72 in afternoon. Mostly cloudy and north wind. Caught one nice 20 inch wiper but that was about it. The other three boats on the lake all had one or two fish also with one 27.5 wiper being caught. I used several lures including a Walleye Flasher Jig with 4" white "gulp" minnow. Also, a X-Rap Shad, and an inline spinner. Used "killer Bee" shrimp on bottom with a carolina rig.

Fished at Rock Creek. Warm Day 90's. Storm Brewed over lake all afternoon and finally cut loose at around 7:30 PM which cut short prime time fishing. Caught 15 largemouth and numerous Perch, Red Ear, and 1 Rainbow Trout. Used Plastics (Salamander) and Top Water Chug Bug. Water was very clear today. Vegetation is starting to die off a little in places. Rocks were good on South End. North end is full of panfish and Trout.

August 11-13
Camped and Fished at Rock Creek with Client. Weather was very cool with periods of light rain at times. 65-75 degrees most of time. Caught numerous Largemouth 10-16 inch range. Also many Red Ear, Rainbow Trout, and Perch. Trout were 12-15 inches. Used Plastics for bass, mainly salamanders and some top water chug bugs. Used a Panther martin on panfish and trout. We caught a couple hundred fish and released all of them.

August 19, 2005
Fished at the Local Golf Course Sand Pit. Caught 8 Largemouth (2 at 14 and 15 inches) and two very large bluegill using a topwater chug bug and a weedless salamander. Beautiful evening, slight breeze out of east and partly cloudy with nice sunset. Beaver was swimming around as well. Water is very low.

Fished at Rock Creek. Very hot day at 94 degrees. Started about 2:30 pm. Lot's of Campers for the Labor Day Weekend. Caught a few nice largemouth at least 12 inches to 14 inches. Also, a large bluegill and an 18" channel on plastic salamander. Caught a few smaller bass and red ear. Lake was not as active today. Reports of a few 4 pound bass being caught.

Fished at Swanson. Very windy. Fished south shore a little. Paddled length of lake for a workout and casted a few times into schools of shad. Storms came up and cut trip short. Got caught in a bit of rain on shore. No fishermen on lake but one guy counted 55 boats skiing etc.

Took the entire family to Rock Creek. The kids caught a lot of fish. CJ caught a nice 12" trout and a 10" bass.

Christian caught a lot of nice Red Ear. Warm evening.

Used a Panther Martin spinner and plastic salamander.

Awesome evening! Caught 13 Largemouth with 12 of them over 12 inches. Two were 14 inches and over 2 pounds. Caught 4 trout with one at 16". Used a topwater chug bug and large panther martin spinner. Very warm but calm water. Lot's of action. Top water was excellent. Stuff you dream of!!!

Only fished an hour and a half till dark.



Last two weeks of September.
September 17
Took a group of 4 clients to Rock Creek and caught many Largemouth and Rainbows. Had a great supper, Rib Eye's, Potatoes, and Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler.
Very hot day!

I fished Rock Creek a couple times getting many Largemouth and big Rainbows. Also, fished the Golf course sand pit and caught a Master Angler Largemouth at 20" with a Chug Bug.
Also, many other largemouth at 14-16" on Chug Bugs. It was an exciting weekend!

Took client to Rock Creek.  Very windy.  We caught several medium sized trout and perch.  We caught one perch over 10 inches.  No largemouth action.  We targeted the perch and trout drifting weedless spinners with yellow jig across north end of lake.  Temp in high 60's.

Fished Golf Course sand pit with son Christian.  We caught a couple largemouth in the hour we spent there.  The largest was 16" and fat!!  Not much action. 
Still fishing top water with a chug bug.  Lytle's secret lure was not as effective as last week.  I love the action of this lure!

Took CJ the youngest son out to Rock Creek.  Nice day!  Started out slow but found lots of largemouth bass at north channel.  Caught some nice fat 12-13 inchers and one at 16" that looked like he had been doing some bulking up for winter.  We caught several rainbow trout, perch, and even got a rare crappie.

Fished at Rock Creek. Cool Day with sun breaking out in late afternoon.  Trout biting well.  Used Panther Martin with much success.  Looks like there were new trout stocked recently.  Most of them in 9" range.  Got one largemouth on Panther Martin.  Took a client along for trout fishing.

Fished at Rock Creek.  Beautiful morning.  Fished from 8 to 10 am.  45 degrees and sunny.  Lots of glassy water. Caught 7 Rainbow Trout and 5 Perch mostly on a Lytle's Secret Lure.  Caught two trout with a Panther Martin spinner.
Water very clear at North end about 6 foot clarity.

Fished at local golf course sand pit.  Slight wind.  Around 50 degrees. Sunny.
Fished about 30 minutes and paddled about 30 minutes.  Used a Lytle Secret Lure with no luck today.  Fish are very docile here.  Lake is up about a foot from two weeks ago.

Fished at Rock Creek.  Mostly cloudy with wind from north.  Wind died about 4:00 pm and water was like glass.  Caught several trout and perch for a total of 18 fish in about 90 minutes.  Got one Brown Trout!  Surprised me!  All fish caught on a 3/8" ounce Lytle Secret Lure with Yellow and white body.  Fish caught mostly next to dropoffs and north end.  Some caught in open water and others at the spillway.  Cold day.  Around 40 degrees.

Beautiful day at Rock Creek.  Started about 2:15 pm fishing at north end.  70+ degrees and a bit windy from north but died down as sun went down.  Glassy water at north end.  Caught 24 fish mostly rainbow trout, 1 Brown trout, and a couple perch.  Used Lytle's secret lure.  Much success with smaller version.  Fished with friends from Hatchery.  They caught several perch using a panther martin.  Trout were very active on topwater.

Fished at Rock Creek again.  Beautiful day!!!  About 60 degrees and slight breeze out of north.  Wind died down and entire lake was like glass.  Used a small Lytle's secret lure with success on Rainbow Trout.  Got one Largemouth about 2 pounds and 15 inches long in shallows at north end.  Great catch!  Big and Fat!
Trout were very active on topwater. Should have fly fished today.

Fished at Rock Creek.  Caught 15 trout with one being a Brown.  There was about 1 acre of open water at north end.  Nice day.  Used Panther Martin and Buck Shot Rattling Jig.

Ended the year right with 50 fish caught at Rock Creek.  About half of the lake was open water.  Fished about two hours and caught 22 Trout and 28 Perch.  Average size.  Used a Small Panther Martin and a Buck Shot Rattling Jig with great success.  Water is exceptionally clear.  No wind water like glass.  About 55 degrees out but cooled as day went on with cloud cover.
