Official Rules

1. Official entry to the Kayakapalooza fishing tournament is as follows: Entrance fee of $25 must be received by tournament administrator(s) on or before August 6th, 2010. Payment may be in the form of cash, check, or PayPal. (send PayPal payments to scottmausbach@gmail.com with “KAYAKAPALOOZA” in the subject line)

2. All fish entered must be caught by rod, reel, line, and hook as outlined by the local fish and game department. All fish must be caught from inside a kayak. Night Crawlers are the only live bait authorized. (If you are unsure your vessel/water craft qualifies please send a picture to scottmausbach@gmail.com for authorization)

3. Eligible species for tournament are as follows: Blue Gill, Channel Catfish, Crappie, Large Mouth Bass, Trout, and Walleye.

How fish will be scored:

Blue Gill:                     2 points for every 1 inch measured.

Channel Catfish:         1.25 points for every 1 inch measured.

Crappie:                      1 point for every 1 inch measured.

Large Mouth bass:     1 point for every 1 inch measured.

Trout:                          1.75 points for every 1 inch measured.

Walleye:                      2.25 points for every 1 inch measured.

A maximum of 2 fish of each species will be eligible for scoring. A total of 12 fish can be scored if 2 of each species are caught. Fish will be scored on the inch. No fractional measurements will be counted. For example, if your Large Mouth Bass measures 12.75 inches, it will be scored at 12 inches.

Damaged, mishandled, frozen, mutilated fish will not be accepted.

4. How to photograph your catch. All photographs must be with a digital camera and include the fish, facing left, mouth closed, tail extended naturally (no pinching to increase length), specified tournament marker, and kayak. There will be a 1 point deduction for each infraction and disqualification of fish if enough requirements are not met.

Plain and simple: Lay fish on a certified ruler, facing left, mouth closed, inside your kayak, with the specified tournament marker lying on top or within view of the fish and snap a couple pictures. As soon as photograph(s) is taken release the fish back into Holmes Lake.

Note on measuring devices (Rulers). Rulers may not be homemade, drawn, or modified. A CLEAR CERTIFIED ruler must be used or fish will not be scored.

5. In the event that there is a tie in any of the divisions the tie breaker is as follows: A best of 3, paper rock scissors game between those that tie. In the event that more than two participants tie, the tournament will be extended by a sudden death fish off. First fish caught, regardless of species, wins the tournament.
